Gavi the Helper

Over the past month or so, we've really been house bound thanks to the cold weather. So to pass the time, Gavi has been focusing most of his energy on perfecting his chores around the house.

When Gavi attacks that gunk and grime on the kitchen floor, he always does it with a smile.

He also takes after his daddy and really takes pride in his culinary abilities. Thank G-d there is someone else in the house who can cook.

But he's also been so helpful with clearing away the snow so all our friends and family can come visit us in White Plains.

Be sure to stay warm!

We hope to see you soon.

Gavi n' Boots

How yummy is this boy? I know right? We came down stairs this morning and he insisted on wearing these. It was a fight to take them off.

He has a matching hat too - pictures to come.

Happy Birthday to Mommy!

I had such a great birthday! I got a nice gift from my hubby (he loves, me he really loves me) Gavi also made something really nice for his mommy. I'll give you a hint. He worked on it for about a day and required some unwrapping. Think about it.

Gavi felt bad about eating turkey for Thanksgiving, he begged us to take him to feed the ducks. In some ways it made him feel better. But we all know he enjoyed the Turkey.

It's FINALLY Here!

After about 2 years in the making, yitzy's CD is finally done. Thank you to everyone who have been such great supporters and cheering him on. Take a preview listen at his website http://www.yitzyspinner.com/ I'm sure you'll like what you hear.

OK and now back to why you're really here. We've been bad with taking pictures. But we did take a video this week. Gavi's really starting to get into playing peek a boo. Hope you enjoy.

Weekend Get Away

I'm sorry to those who've seen this picture but this captures Gavi at his best so I had to post it. This past weekend Yitzy and I went to a wedding in Toronto so Gavi went to his Gama Suri and Zadi's for shabbat in 'Jersey. As you can tell by the picture, he had a great time.

Put on your best clothing kids, we're goin' ta Sears

What do you think? Gavi had a great time in front of the camera.
It's getting to be a cold October so Gavi got to wear his new winter coat for the first time yesterday. It was funny to watch him getting used to the puffy garment. He dropped his passy a couple of times- poor kid tipped over trying to grab it. Reminded me of a scene in "A Christmas Story", poor little Randy Parker. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you just have to go see the movie.
Love to all!

It's nice out, What not play?

It's freakishly warm for late October. But you won't hear Gavi complaining. We went to the Pepsico park yesterday for a while and ran around in their sculpture garden (yes we are that cultuered) and meditated by the pond filled with Coy. Okay, Gavi tried to meditate IN the pond but he did like the fishies.

They are called COY gavi, not fishies.

I have no excuse

Gavi is now 14 months. He's growing so fast. It's hard to believe how big he is compared to what he was a year ago. Gavi's vocabulary has not gone beyond yeah and nah. But he does manage to get what he wants with a good point of the finger. He didn't get his mother's red hair but he did get his mother's temper. But one thing has NOT changed- Gavi's love for his new toys' boxes. Reading this, I know it's wired. But just take a look at exhibit A- Gavi got his first set of wheels yesterday.

But we only got as far as the end of the drive way when hark! Gavi sees the box his car came in!
Let's just say it took a while to get him to come out.
Love to all.

SUMMER FUN

Over the past couple of months we've been having some fun. Gavi and mommy took a week off from work and daycare to hang out with his cousins in from Israel. No pictures of that yet, but soon.

Yesterday, we had some play time in the front yard with daddy, take a look.

The Boy Loves the Water

Mommy and Daddy had some weddings to go to on Sunday so Gama Suri and Zadie took Gavi for the day. He lots of fun playing with his cousins but most of all he LOVED the water park. The boy just wont stop talking about it. Okay Gavi we know! You love water. Here are some shots courtesy of Gama and Zadie.

Who You Callin' Turkey?

This has been BIG week for changes. Gavi started full time daycare, I went back to work, and his 1st birthday was yesterday.

By the time I get home at the end of the day, it's already 5:30 and then Gavi's bed time is at 7:00. From the time we walk through the front door, we have dinner and then a bath, which doesn't leave us much room for mommy and me play time. So we try to make the best of the hour and a half.

It's hard to believe he's the big 1! He's grown so much. Sniff sniff.

Love to all.

Yes, Another Post

So out of guilt for going back to work full time, I'm trying to make it up to Gavi by doing fun things with him during my last week of freedom. We took him to an indoor play gym called "Leapin' Lizards". Needless to say, Gavi had the BEST time. He was all over the place and wore himself out. I've always been grossed out by the pool of plastic balls these places have. It's not like a swimming pool where the chlorine can somewhat disinfect what's been left behind by precious inhabitants. The ball pit just gives me the heebee jeebeeis. I saw a huge machine in the corner of the room properly labeled "plastic ball cleaner". So I thought, how dirty could it be? And with that, in Gavi went. He dove head first.

Gavi also enjoyed the tunnels

And was great at balencing himself on the unstable serfaces.

There is no doubt in my mind, we'll be there again.

Making Up For Lost Time

Here are some pictures from Hilton Head. Enjoy.

Gavi got up so early every day that we were able to watch the sun rise. Thanks Gavs.

What to do?

I know it's been almost a month since my last confession. We've been pretty busy. Gavi's been to Cape Cod and to Hilton Head since we last posted. He had a great time hangin' by both beaches and pools. If you asked him, he said he liked the beach better in Hilton Head but the weather was more tolerable in Cape Cod. Yes, Gavi is a snob.

Don't worry, we wore LOTS of sunscreen.
Gavi's in exploring mode. Getting into everything. He's found where mommy keeps all her shabbat serving pieces, cleaning supplies, and he's even learned how to open the oven when mommy (ok ok daddy) wants to cook.

Gavi's also started to think about what he wants to do with his life.
Does he want to clean houses? He can start with his mommy's.
Maybe he wants to work with computers.
Or maybe, just maybe, he wants to take after his daddy.

Only time will tell.

Much love.

Watch What He's Doing Now

This walk is for you grandma! Happy 47th! (wink wink)
I know it's been a while but this was worth the wait!

I must say, he's a pretty determined young man. I don't even have to bribe him anymore. Well, if you don't count this second one.

He's a lot of fun.

Until next time!

Baby On the Go!

I have no photographic proof yet but Gavi took his first 5 steps yesterday. It's true. Ask Gama Suri! (If you'd like the number of where she can be reached, please ask) We tried to get him walking again- no such luck. But we have the camera at arm's reach at all times. We took Gavi for his second trip into Manhattan today. We walked some street fairs, at a burger or two (mommy not gavi), and saw some interesting people such as this fine lady--

Gavi couldn't stop looking at her hat. She was so nice to let him pick at at.

We went down to visit Aunt Yakira for her birthday party. I promised him a balloon.

As you can see he got one. But wouldn't let go of it for a solid hour. I can't tell you how hard it was to pry it out of his hands so we could give him dinner. The TV was a great diversion.

Wish there was more to tell.

Flour Power

I'd like to say that Gavi got into the flour on his own. That would be cute though. I was bored and wanted to have some fun with his creativity. I thought he might draw on the floor with his finger or something. Nope... the flour went right into his mouth. Grabbing a fist full and stuffing as much as he could... repeatedly! Well, at least he had fun doing it. And it made a great Kodak moment.

G-d Help Me When He Can Walk!

Gavi stood up for the first time all by him self yesterday. Yitzy wasn't there to see it, so we've been trying to get him to do it again. Alas, he refuses. But he is getting better at standing without help. Maybe I'll boycott his passy and see how that works. With his mobility growing (if that makes sense) he's getting into more and more trouble. I turn for one second, he's on top of his bus. Which is not made to be ridden. Gavi also likes to do the following...

I don't get it. But what ever floats his boat.
Love to all.

What We've Been Up To

I know its been a while but I still have nothing to report. Gavi has four teeth coming in on the top, which has put him in a sour mood these past couple of days. The only thing that made him happy was playing with things he's not supposed to...
We've also made some trips to the studio with daddy. We're almost done with the CD so keep your eyes open. Maybe Gavi will have something of his own one day...

What is He Not Getting?

Gavi seems frustrated for some reason. I really don't get why. But I'm sure you'll get a laugh out of this. I'm such a mean mother.

Would You Wanna Hug This?

When Gavi sits down to eat any meal of the day he needs he following by his trusty side: Two spoons, of the dairy or meat variety depending on the meal, his passy, and a handful of cheerios in the cup holder. I don't know if this is the best eating habit for a baby but what ever works right?

First he takes the first bite. Then he needs the passy. Then another bite. Then he plays with his spoons. I try to sneak another bite in between the spoons. We start the process all over again. My mother thinks I'm crazy for playing these games with him. By the end of the meal he looks like this-

Notice the food on his feet and forehead as well. Any suggestions?

Love to all!

Gavi's mom

PS- After the first month or so of feeding him solids, we realize the best thing to do was eat our meals in our onesies.

Follow the Light Gavi Goo

Yes, we are mean to our son. But who can resist?

Gavi has a new favorite food. Wipes! Every time I leave him alone in his play room, he goes straight for the box that I had (stupidly) left on the couch from the previous diaper change. I know, mommy should know better. I'll get a picture of it, should it happen again. (as it probably will)

Go Gavi Go!

So Gavi is starting to feel his way through walking. Yes, he's still holding out hand, but only one of them! Please G-d he'll figure it out before the summer.

Last night we had to start Ferberizing all over again. I went in and out of his room about 10 times last night reminding him... "Yes Gavi, we're still here... We love you Gavi... It's time to go to bed Gavi." In the mean time, he's probably thinking, SHUT UP WOMAN AND GIVE ME MY BOTTLE!

We got Gavi his first baseball hat. You Like? He didn't! He kept trying to pull it off. He only kept it on long enough for this photo.

Since s'fira (the time between Passover and Shavuot when we refrain from listening to live music) is upon us, this is the musician's form of Bein HaZmanim, Daddy is home on Sunday's. During this down time, Daddy enjoys practicing on his guitar with the Gav-meister.

And then Gavi decided he'd rather eat the instrument than play it.

Don't worry daddy, there is still hope.

Love to all,

Gavi's Mom

Pesach

So we made it through our first Pesach home. Yes, we did miss the Ritz, but there's nothing like your first pesach table to make you feel proud.

We got gavi a walker for afikoman... and what did he like most about it? Well, take a look.

(IF YOU CAN'T SEE IT CLICK HERE)

What can I say? He's a goofy wittal boy.

Much love.

Gavi Flips the Bird!

So my in laws (G-d bless them) have a beautiful bird named BJ. BJ and Gavi have this love/hate relationship. Gavi loves to terrorize him and in return, BJ loves to grab Gavi's beloved passy. Take a look. (OR CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK)

We also continued the baby proofing process. Not to be confused with the Pesach cleaning process, which has yet to begin. We love to see little bits of cherios all over the play room.

Good times to be had by all

My Son the Model

So since Gavi has learned to crawl he's also gotten into the habit of strutting his stuff. He's not stranger to the cat walk.... Shake it Gavi! Shake it!
