Sukkot

So today was the first decent day we've had weather wise since sukkot. So we jumped at the chance to take down our sukka. We hadn't taken pictures of Gavi in the sukka DURING sukkot, so we thought that getting pictures of him before the sukka was taken down was good enough.

Here he is in the corner where Daddy hadn’t disassembled the tarps yet. We'll just tell him later on in life- "and this is you over sukkot... you remember that don’t you?" tee hee hee... Gavi will never be the wiser.

I've taken action thanks to my loving sister to give Gavi some tummy time. He hates it so we thought we'd try to do it over the boppy, the lesser evil. He seemed to have more tolerance for that. We're putting the boppy to good use as you can see from this picture. Recent developments: Gavi is starting to try to sit him self up. These attempts are a form of crunches. He’ll be the first baby with a six pack before age 1. He gets it from his mommy. (psha… no!) He’s also acquired a pout. We left him with his Bubby while we went to Montreal for a total of 36 hours and in that short time frame- a pout popped up! We can’t help but laugh every time that happens. I vow to catch this pout in action. Such a mean mommy.

Stuff to tell

Greetings from Montreal!! My French teacher would be so proud of me- reading all these road signs with a perfect French accent. We came up here for a friends wedding and had the best time.... but there was something missing.... GAVI POOH!!!! No no we didn’t forget him. He spent his first nights with out his mommy. Thanks to the Bubby Meister, Mommy and Daddy had a nice 36 hour vacation. Friends at the wedding were asking us if we're going to go out and party, maybe hit up the casino. Our response.... are you crazy??!?! We’re going to SLEEP. No rocking to sleep, no diapers, no bath time.... Just me and my bed. Since it was my first time away from Gavi and promised myself I would call every 5 minutes. So I limited myself to 3 hours. I kept by that rule and all should be proud. Yes I had my urges- but the mommy prevailed!!

So Gavi's crib FINALLY came in. We've set up his nursery and it just so happens that his room is the most decorated room in the house. It's a shame that out of the three of us he appreciates it the least. We'll show these pictures to him when he's older... he'll totally thank us then. I just know he will. Ok, I won't keep my hopes up.

And I would not blog without putting up a picture of gavi so here you go.... he's just hanging out in his new bath, yes he's out grown the bathroom sink. From sink to tub... my how he's grown.

Bob Dog has some fun

Bob Dog was a character on the long-running television program Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, where he appeared as a resident of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. My family was always a big fan of this character during our pre-bath time routine. As you can see the Spinners have added this aspect to their own bath time.
Gavi had a memorable first sukkot/simchat torah. One of his favorite parts was dancing around with his daddy during hakafot. Although with all the shaking around daddy’s suit got nailed during hakaffah number 6. What did he expect? Gavi had JUST eaten… use your imagination.
Gavi also enjoyed some bonding time with Daddy over chol hamoed. As you can see I think daddy had more fun with the “hangy thingies” than Gavi did.
Until next time.... Love to all. Gavi's mom

Get off of me ya fat cow!!!

I don't remember where this saying came from but my father and I used to use it in banter between each other. We always thought it was so funny. So now in the spirit of this I give you Gavi- the fat cow! We got this getup as a gift from someone in our community and loved it immediately! Perfect timing for sukkot. Gavi was a hit at the Rabbi's sukkah. I think it's a perfect addition for Gavi Chulent. Not to be confused with Gavi Stew! Yes, i want to eat my child. Mu ha ha ha (evil laughter) -- MOOO! For some reason (we promised each other we'd never do it again) we forgot our stroller in the car, which Yitzy took with him to shul. So we were minus our stroller for all of Yom Tov. Thank G-d we were only out for one meal and that meal happened to be the Rabbi's! Mom and I had to carry Gavi-pooh all the way to their house. Not to fret, we borrowed a stroller for the way back. I can only imagine what it looked like with two women walking along the streets of suburban New York carrying a small cow in a sling.

ITS AMAZING!!!

Yes, my boy can stand... while being propped up by pillows and with his mommy letting go for a split second. But it looks cool. The holidays so far have been very generous. We've had family and friends stay with us since we can't go out due to Yitzy's obligations to the community (which we love) Gavi is showing more and more of his personality as he grows. We're starting to hear different cries for what he wants. We hear the frustration when he's looking for his passy which he still loves. There is also a cry for when he wants to go to sleep. Daddy put up the sukka today (thank you grandma for your generous gift) Gavi watched in amazement how talented daddy is at dropping sukka poles on his feet. Gavi wanted to join in the game ... maybe next year Gavs. It's all about the approach. We're hoping for a nice dry sukkot- good luck.

Love to all Gavi's mom
